mobo will go into the bios with a proc? [dfi nforce4] [left hand side]

Q: I have a Ultra SLI and not to start now with 4 LEDs in the left side, which means “System Startup” says the manual. I think it is the proc which can be a problem, but i dont have another 939 and to test it with. so I was just going to try booting the system without the cpu, ram and just a vid card, this is a good idea? will actually do something?

Re:yeap i tried reseating everything. i give up on this thing, i had to return the mobo so ill just wait to see if my RMA on the original board comes through, thanks for the help stev

Re:Have you tried re-seating everything?

Re:yes i had a spare lying around. all the fans spin up, the chipset and heatsink fan. i just wish i had another mobo or proc for testing :(

It won't work, the motherboard can't do anything on it's own, the CPU is required to boot and get in to bios. What makes you suspect it's the CPU? Have you tried with the bare miniumums(cpu/heatsink and fan, 1 stick of ram, video card). Disconnect everything else, hard drives, cd/dvd drives, any other PCI cards etc.

Is this a new build, or was this a working PC, that suddenly stopped working?

well its was a working PC that stopped. i've got just the basics in CPU/ RAM/ Vid Card and its not booting up. i put the ram and vid card in another machine and they worked fine. so i went to get a new mobo, and its not booting up at all
