Monitor Cables – Stripped Screws [video card] [screws]
Q: My monitor cable that connects to my video card (the blue part with the two screws), one of the “screws” broke. The portion of the screw that broke out in the video card. I need to know if I unplug the monitor and possibly a new connection for my video card replaced. This is hard to explain, but if you understand, I appreciate all the help I can get.
Best Answer: That port on your HP is a DMS-59 video output on an add-on video card.
That's the reason why your HP's onboard VGA port doesn't work– With an add-on video card installed, the onboard VGA is disabled.
You should be using a DMS-59-to-dual-DVI adapter and a standard DVI monitor cable to connect to the white DVI port on your monitor.
If you are missing the DMS-59-to-dual-DVI adapter, you should contact HP and see if you can get another one from them.
Hope this helps.

Re:Also, if you remove the video card, you should be able to use a small pair of needlenose pliers and back the screw up enough and to then grab it and remove it. Its easily replaced with one from an older card.

Re:A new connection for your video card, no. A new cable, maybe. As long as you can unscrew the cable from the monitor itself, then yes you can replace it. However, you do not need to screw it in. If you can still connect the current cable, you are fine. I almost never screw cables like that in.
