MSI KT7Turbo and Duron 700 . Can not get past 888 [duron 700] [msi]
Q: My friend and I both bought this MB and CPU combo and we have some problems .
I can not seem to unlock my CPU . with a pencil trick at least . Gonna look into getting the defogger repair kit .
My friend on the other hand, can not his system the past . currently @ 888 and 8×111 1.725V
Any . Suggestions? Were both Cooler Master DP5-6H51 HSF . comments on the HSF?
Any help would be greatly appreciated .

Re:I have a similar problem with my Duron 700 on the same mobo, unlocked with rear window defogger kit conductive paint. The highest I've gotten with it caseless (+ w/FOP32-1 and arctic silver), is 981 (109 x 9), which is relatively stable under full load IF the ambient room temp is ~65F. If the ambient temp goes over ~70F, it's no longer stable until it's back down to 954 (106 x 9). I think I can stablize it even at an ambient of ~70F if I had a more powerful fan (ie., the loud delta) on the FOP. It won't POST at all with any multiplier > 9 (originally wouldn't POST with a multiplier > 8.5 until I re-did the bridges) or FSB > 109.
I recently flashed it with the OC'ers BIOS (v1.9) to get a 1.85V Vcore setting, which did help me to get over my previous unstable high of 963 (107 x 9). I'm about to chalk up my 700 as one that's not the very sweetest OCer, as compared to my P3 600 slot 1 that hit 800 @default voltage easily, and a gig (167 Mhz FSB) amazingly. I'm currently running the 600@990 stable under full load.

I'm currently at 700….can't even change the front side bus too 110 or even 108 and get signal to my video….what can be causing this prob???
Re:not all duron cpu's will over clock to high mhz's
i have 3 600mhz durons, one will reach 700mhz one will reach 850mhz and the other will go about 900mhz ( they can all go higher, but thats the point where they are totally stable.)
my 800mhz duron will reach 1.1 gig
like they said above, make sure you have good cooling and you may need to boost the voltage.
but still no guarantee it will go over 888mhz

Re:You should definitely invest in an unlocking method other than pencils. The defogger kit is good idea, as is a conductive pen. I'm not sure how your coolermaster is, but maybe you'd like to get a new hsf? Alpha PAL6035, GlobalWin FOP32-1 or 38, or if you wanna spend more money, get the Hedgehog. Also, if you keep your case closed, try spending a little money on case cooling. Cooler temps are always good, even if you don't overclock.
