Need help with installation error! [installation error] [quot]

Q: I posted messages about two weeks ago on my computer to install an OS and Im still the problem even though I got a new hard drive. I tried to install 98 and XP. 98 kicked me back to DOS when it was initializing the installation. XP gave me an error saying could not load a file setup.sys (and “Error Code 7). I sit where I have been but Im sure the problem is not with the hard disk. I do not know what another part was messed up or what I can do. Please if you have any ideas or suggestions or information about which part is the problem I would be grateful. Thank you.

Re:i created a primary partition and I am not overclocking. I had my system working before and it crashed on me so I decided to reformat and thats where I am now. I havent tried disconnecting useless hardware so I will definitely try that. More help would be great.

Re:Did you create the primary partition on your brand new drive? 'Cause you don't do squat until you've done that…

Re:1. Have you tried disconnecting all hardware you don't need to install initially, like your DVD drive, sound card, any other non essential hardware?

2. you're not overclocking are you? If you are lower all settings to normal (i.e 100mhz fsb, slowest ram timings)

3. I'm assuming you have formatted your drive properly.

4. Is your motherboard updated to the latest BIOS. Have you used this motherboard before without problems?

These are kinda starting points.
