NEED mapping software Pizza Delivery I want your opinion! [yahoo maps] [pizza delivery]

admin / May 30th, 2011/ Posted in Software / No Comments »

Q: I have a job delivering pizzas. I want the fastest and most efficient driver in the whole shop.

Somebody tell me the software I need to buy download * cough cough * I can just point A to point B and perfect directions.

Yahoo cards, get Expedia, MapQuest and always have something about them that messes up. According to them, my house is connected to a road that simply can not connect. Ive goofed directions from all three of these websites and I know I can not trust anything like them.

I datu003e reliable.

Also 99%, this is a laptop that does not have an Internet connection connection.

I know nothing about GPS. Should I get one?

Thanks much.

Re:Destinator will probably be best :)

You'll have north-up or heading-up, 3d/2d viewpoints, turn-by-turn instructions etc.

Is really that cut-throat?

Seems to me that you'd spend more time fumbling around with software than you would just driving there.

Sooooooo many roads. I spend more time looking at the maps than I do driving. And then driving I spend more time turning around because I'm going the wrong way than I do driving to the correct destination.

I'm great at bringing the items to the door though :)

Re:and rush hour traffic is not much of a concern except on my very first run, I work 5 till close.

Actually mapping software won't help as to personal experience. You have to take in account morning and afternoon rush hour traffic. A longer route might be shorter timewise depending on where you need to go. Shortcuts! ask a more experienced driver what shortcuts he uses. Mapping software sucks compared to experience.

At this point just getting point a to point b is killing me. We have the largest delivery area of any of the papa john's in the area. There are so many country roads and I try to get creative so often I end up tacking on miles on top of miles. And I don't want to even start talking about finding everything. The software would be a life saver at this point in my experience, thats for certain. And I acquired a laptop today, so I may as well put it to use for when I go back to work on thursday (should be just enough time to acquire that software and get this bad battery replaced).
