thanks bunches! I go to the strip if it can even post.
update
Something-edit-view is wrong. Symptoms still remains:
1) can play for hours and will work hard to freeze.
2 compuer) hard boot results in fast booting (power LED lights in one second) and then no power at all . No fans, no post, no video, heres the kicker etc.
But. when I have new seat maps / mem is the problem away.
I “think” Im down to the memory as if it is pressing both sticks (mushkin 512 MB) I post and remain on.
So the motherboard or memory ?

Also… any thunderstorms in the area during that time period? If so, try a different surge supressor. I had one system that I thought had had a HDD failure. I took it to my office, replaced the HDD, brought it back to its office… same symptoms. Take it to my office, works fine. Take it there, acts like the HDD has failed. Replace surge supressor… back to normal ![]()

Reseat everything, thats usually a major cause of problems with systems refusing to boot. Its very doubtful your power supply is the problem, antec units are generally very reliable, and their 380w model should be fine.
Another possibilty is that you have a short in your power supply somewhere. Make sure all power connectors are properly seated. I once had a similar and the problem resulted from me plugging in the floppy connector one pin over.

thanks for the confirmation that the PS should be OK.

Re:Double check to make sure the motherboard is properly seated on the stand offs.
Also try booting with bare essentials (maybe even outside of the case) to verify that the motherboard is not shorting out.

Re:thanks for the help guys.
I really thought that power supply would be enough, can anybody confirm?
the ram is mushkin.
I'll reseat everything this evening. There's nothing special in there other than hard drive, video, dvd.

Re:The usual suspects:
Powersupply – might be a little weak for the 6800GT and everything else. Definitely a quality PSU though, I have one powering my dual athlon 2400.
CPU/HSF – Make sure they are seated properly. My athlon 2400 mobile or the HSF wasn't seated properly and it had the same symptoms. Shouldn't be an issue if everything was working though.
Video card – make sure it's seated properly. If you have the molex connectors for everything, keep it on a line by itself.
Ram – Again, make sure it's seated properly. It's a pain sometimes, and probably not the problem. Might also be a problem if it is cheap ram. Also, check the voltage. I think guy recommends 2.6 or 2.7v.
If you have anything overclocked, put it at default speeds for now.
