new video card problem, help is greatly appreciated [nvidia geforce4 ti 4200] [nvidia geforce4 ti]

Q: I have a 4200 64MB AGP card. Install worked fine, when I again went through all the bios and starup fine. Appeared on a desktop saceond then the screen went blank except for a bunch of short vertical green lines that are part of a larger horizontal line near the top of the screen.

I have no ideas, has many searches, found next to nothing, any help is HIS apriciated.

oh, and I am running Win 98SE with a crappy Asrock (budget Asus line) motherboard

Best Answer: Yes you can and when windows starts after restore it will install driver for the new video card.

Re:Can you Boot into SAFE MODE?

If so, go to the desktop and change the video to STANDARD VGA
and then reboot. If it doesn't work at that point, the card is defective.

Re:Did you disable your antivirus software before you installed the driver? My brother forgot that and as a result, he got the same thing. You probably need to boot into safe mode and uninstall the driver. Let windows install it's own version of the driver and then try again without the antivirus software enabled. Otherwise, you may have installed a driver that wasn't designed for your OS. I'd double check to make sure those two things are correct.
