OK, time for a recap: What is the current best software for keeping a DVD collection? [ok time] [isbn number]
Q: Hi there,
As many here, I collect DVDs . and over the years I have built a good number, including bootlegs and films from other regions.
I him wonderiong what is currently the best software / application that would allow me to complete a catalog with everything I have to make. I know there are a number of on-line based systems that allow you to use the ISBN number, but since some of my bootlegs is STUF and homemade discs, this would not be included.
Short of using Excel or something like that What is my best bet for making this list as quickly and painlessly as possible?

I found some nice and cheap Mylex bookshelves in Wal-Mart (of all places), which can store 120 DVDs (regular-size cases)… three of those can be piled one on top of the other, in a regular-sized apartment, and you can cover an entire wall with them… modular design at its best.
Thank you. The family collection has expanded beyond the current storage capacity.

Re:i prefer excel for related purposes
if you dont have office already, download OpenOffice.org and use calc
Re:I just use Excel even if it's not pretty, but it does what I want it to do and it's pretty small. I just make my title column alphabeticalize and it sorts everything as it should
Re:"Short of using Excel or something along these lines" i think access would fall on these lines.
Check out collectorz.com … dvd profiler is another good one. What are you looking to do, keep track of your dvds or make a pretty list w/ images.. or maybe you're looking to do both.
Actually, guy is probably right… something like access or excel would give you the best flexibility. I prefer excel with some macros that will grab information from imdb.com and insert it, as well as export to text+html files. beats paying for some software imo.

I've always like DVDProfiler. The basic version is free.
Agreed. DVD Profiler (http://www.intervocative.com/) is excellent. It's a standalone app, but it also allows you to backup your collection online (see the link in my sig for the online collection page).
