Q: Im not sure I want to paint mine “black stereo” or a funky color. I thought about blue, but Im not sure. Anyway, what kind of pain do you use? Me thinking about making a “smoke” colored piece of to go on the . But I would have to find small hinges. As you can see all my posts, Im looking into doing my thing .

Re:On the plastic parts, if you have any, use Plasticote Vinyl paint. That stuff is amazing.

Re:Dude…you will get the best results on metal if you use auto paint. My favorite brand (from when I use to do metal models way back in the day with my airbrush) is House of Kolor…but it's a little hard to find and pertty expensive. Krylon and Rustolum (sp?) are great right out of the spray can. Apply multiple light coats for a good finish. You really shouldn't have to sand that much if at all for this kind of application…unless you #$@# up! Anyway when you paint make a big clear area that you can get spray on and then start spraying away from the part…sweep the spray path across the part….then stop spraying off the paint. This way you won't get any pools and will get a nice smooth finish that is even everywhere.

Re:Dude, Krylon spray paint freakin' rocks! I painted my case AND drives with it and it looks PRO. And I'm VERY picky about the results. ;)

I used Krylon semi-flat black paint.

You can check out their different colors here (http://www.krylon.com/product/gp_product_detail.asp?sgID=GP01).

Re:some modding sites sell kits of car paint (spray)…..

i'm considering it…. i'm thinking blue :D

Re:Do like 3dcool does: autopaint! :D
Would also look the best and last the longest.

Re:i've seen people use krylon automotive paint before. hi lo has it.

Re:Laquer would probably work the best IMO

it dries very fast, and you can do lots of light coats..

do a few light coats of whatever color and then a few coats of clearcoat laquer.
do some really light sanding between coats, not neccessary, but it usually helps.
(like 600-900grit, real fine)
