PC will reboot HELP ! [network cable unplugged] [novell network]
Q: This PC is on a Novell network. If you turn it on, goes through the normal things. When you login the script runs fine novel. Just before it is to do things in the Startup folder reboots. It will do 4 or 5 times before it will actually be stable.
I have tried to remove things from the folder strartup, bypassing Novel (hit Esc), starting with the network cable connected, I checked the power to switch and all connections. It is also using IBM Client Access (connect AS400s). That software includes an app called Version checker is placed in the Startup folder, which I removed from the Startup folder and regestry.
Im only here for ideas, if anyone have an idea please respond.
thanks
Best Answer: This is not an uncommon problem, usually related to the video drivers. You need to attempt to enter "SAFE MODE" by pressing the F8 key during the boot process.
If you can enter safe mode, right click on MY COMPUTER and click on PROPERTIES.
First, under the ADVANCED tab, click the START UP AND RECOVERY button. UN CHECK the AUTOMATICALLY RESTART option. Click OK and return the to PROPERTIES window.
Second, click on the HARDWARE TAB and under that click the DEVICE MANAGER button. In the listing expand DISPLAY ADAPTERS, right click on your video adapter and select PROPERTIES. Under the DRIVER tab, check to see the driver date, and if it was recent see if you can use the ROLL BACK DRIVERS option.
While in safe mode, try to defrag the system and see if you have any available space on the primary drive. If not try deleting unnecessary files to free up space.

Re:When did this problem start happening? Have you tried safe boots? I believe you can also do step-by-step confirmed boots in 95 also (don't recall right now)

Re:Sounds like a memory violation of some type. OS would be nice to know, a list of hardware would also help.
