Pencil trick worked first try! [l1 bridges] [radioshack]

Q: Im a pencil trick with the on my Duron 650, it worked the first try. I went to 800 and the first test on my K7T pro2A, works great, temp is lower than 650, because I scraped off the path, and used Radio Shack white paste. 33c is not too bad, 1.75 volts. Using a Cooler Master fan, and my old 235watt ps run well, sewer, and 11.9 Monitor shows 3.33v 5.0V to 12V supplies.

Re:"if you *need* a 1gig cpu, i suggest you buy a 1gig cpu"

What would be the fun of that? Anybody can buy a Thunderbird 1gig!

Re:Hmm with the case open, I can run my Duron 650@1050 at 1.85V

Case closed, no more than 970 though….OVERHEAT if I just think of running it at 1.85 :(

Re:heh… damn, my duron 750 that I just got will only post at a gig (133*7.5) even with 1.85v
but it runs great at 933 with 1.75v
I used a HB lead pencil and it worked the first time as well!

Re:I've got a pair of D600@1000 at 1.85v on a Abit KT7 MB. Stable on both of them. :)

Re:Not bad for first time! But you need a 750 to get it to 1GHz and for it to run stable! Anything lower and it will just be either unstable or not go!

Good Luck,

Albert.

Re:guy: Good job with the pencil trick. However, you'll need a faster chip in order to hit 1GHz. I had a Duron 600 that topped out at 900MHz. Like you I wanted to break the 1 gig threshold so I sold that chip and picked up a Duron 700. That's been running stable at 1.083GHz for 3 months now.

Re:if you're really hunting for 1ghz i'd suggest one garunteed to OC from compuwiz, a 750@1ghz will run you $120 or so, damn good if you ask me.

Re:Can't get it to post faster than 850, upped voltage to 1.84 still only 850. I need 1gig, won't accept lower, I will have to find me another Duron.
