Poll: Do you like WinXP's GUI, or switch back to 98 classical style? [classic settings] [style layout]
Q: Just wondering what everyone went to when they bought Windows XP
Do keep the nice GUI, and continue to use the new style / layout of the Start menu allows you etc.
or it back to the good ol traditional institutions, just like what used to be win98?
Re:Luna is butt ugly, that's why I have an OSX theme going…like thousands of others…there's other nice themes as well…
all in all, I think the XP GUI is far better than the 98 GUI, though still not what it should be..
Re:i turned off everything. its win2k + fast user switching, as far as i'm concerned. that goes for most everyone here in the dorm too
Re:classic style, but I didn't know about the skins…. OSX lookalike would be awesome. Although I'm like guy, I didn't like the double stack of the start menu with the recently used progams on it. I'd rather organize my Start Menu the way *I* want it. Besides, the squared-off menus all seem somehow more efficient
Re:<< I stick with the old classic style!
Re:I use the classic start menu but the Luna GUI style. It looks better to me and is functionally identical.
Re:I use custom themes with the hacked theme dll
Re:I hate Luna as MS ships it. That damn green start button makes me wanna puke!!
Now, i do like that i can skin it with some very nice skins. I personally like Luna Aqua with a custom
wallpaper. I know many of you hate the eye candy but i personally like it, i only wish that MS was
as good at it as Apple… or Apple had as many great programs as MS.
Re:<< I like it. I've kept it on ever sense I installed Win XP in October. I can't say that I really have any gripes about it except that there's only 3 color scheme's for it:( >>
Enjoy WindowBlinds (http://windowblinds.net/) Skins, Schemes, whatever for your Windows Interface
guy
Re:I actually find the new style more convenient, especially with the recently used programs list.
Re:You should add another choice along the lines of "I like the new interface, especially since I can use an almost infinite variety of Visual Styles and Themes to make it look like almost anything which is really cool and a lot of fun and is one of the best new things in Windows XP"
I use the EclipseOSX visual style, which kind of makes the window decorations and dialog boxes look like Mac OSX' Aqua interface, except where it makes more sense to keep a Windows flavor. Very slick. And if you don't like that look there are hundreds of others to choose from.
Re:I like it. I've kept it on ever sense I installed Win XP in October. I can't say that I really have any gripes about it except that there's only 3 color scheme's for it:(
Re:I used the new style and have no real problems with it. Main difference to me is the double column start menu and it is easy to get used to. I just changed back to the classic style, mainly because I didn't like the way XP moves the "most recent" programs up the stack continuously. No big deal but I feel a little less secure with that.
By the way, for the previous poster, right click on the start button and then you can select the classic menu option. That allows you to switch back and forth.
Re:I just installed win XP pro last mite,,,did i miss something,,how can i have the option of using the classic style?,, tyia
Re:I like new stuff, and I like eyecandy.
But, eyecandy must not come at the cost of interface efficency.
But, since Luna fits both 1 and 2, I tried to get used to it, using it for a few days, but there's just NO WAY I can ever like that piece of crap.
The guys at MS must have been smoking some seriously strong stuff when they came up with it.
I'd rather go back to DOS than use Luna.
Wouldn't mind if they bundeled the stuff they were smoking with XP though, heck I'd buy several copies just for that ![]()
Re:I prefer the Classic style, although I don't mind the new Luna. It takes getting used to, I guess.
