Re:I see.

In that case, I should probably nuke 2.3.2 and get 2.3.1.

Re:I ran into problems with KDE-2.2.2 + Qt-2.3.2. Just in case you do, I was told by the KDE team to run it with Qt-2.3.1.

Well, I've already made my decision (2.2.2) but this is definately my "play" machine. Let's see:

Kernel: 2.4.18-pre1
Distro: LFS 3.2-RC1
XFree86: 4.2.0
Qt: 2.3.2
XMMS: 1.2.7-pre1

:D

I've got KDE compiled and running. Screenshot will be in next week's Friday Desktop Thread.

Re:Give us some background on your system. Is this a development/play machine or is this your 100%-uptime machine. KDE 3.0 is only in now and there are bound to be lots of bugs still in it. One advantage here though is it's currently in development so you get CVS.

If you 're looking for stability, then 2.2.2 and KOffice 1.1.1 and Qt-2.3.1

Re:I use 2.2 at home.

I'd try 3.0 if it was available through the usual packages collection for Debian, but until it is, I'll stick with 2.2, it's working just fine, and Im too lazy to compile stuff since I discovered Debian/APT ;)

Re:Well, I guess it's 2.2 then.

Actually, I downloaded it a few minutes after I made the :)

Re:Use 2.2. Not only is it the stable version but most current apps that are out are for 2.2. When 3.0 goes stable then most apps will be ported over and we'll all be happy, but until then 2.2 is the thing to use on a normal system.

Re:A *NIX desktop…..

guy….compiling KDE on that LFS system of your will take some time, at least mine did…
Just use the last stable version (2.2.2) or get a smaller WM/desktop… BlackBox, IceWM, WindowMAker and
XFCE come to mind
