Problems accessing floppy drive? [floppy drive] [floppy disk]
Q If I were a floppy disk and try to access the computer shuts down and restarts on its own. I thought it was either the drive itself or the food, so I swaped both. It is still the same and Im totally boggled by what may be causing it. Can anyone give me on track direction.
Thanks
Best Answer: it is normal that at the startup sound a floppy disk makes sound.but if you think that makes sound because it's faulty, just remove it's sourdce.open the computer and remove a cable(not the big one with a lot of samll cables the other one).that does the job

Re:I think that might have worked guy! Thanks. I'll have to use the drive a little bit to make sure but I opened a word document from a disk with no problmes. What could cause a cable to go bad just sitting in the computer? Maybe it just got bumped and wasn't making a good connection to the MB.

Re:I just tried that guy and it still killed the computer but instead of rebooting it went to a blue screen telling me there was an error and to remove any newly installed HW componenants, which I don't have any of. Do you (or anyone else) have any other suggestions for what could be causing this problems or ways of fixing it?

Re:Try this and see if it makes any difference. The steps I list should be the same, but I am doing this through win2k so they might be a little different.
