Problems with newly built computer. [dual core processor] [asus a8n sli]

Best Answer: go into your BIOS setting and run your processor at maximum performance. most new motherboards come with settings that lower your computer's performance for environmental purposes. that is, if you install a processor that has a clock speed of 2.9GHZ, you will notice your computer is running on 2.66GHZ. search for the multiplier and max it to the top.

also, you might have purchased a western digital harddrive that has that green sign on it. that is not suitable for any thing other than storing/backing up data on. it is really a rip off if you have your OS on it.

The STOP error is caused by hardware problems (usually BIOS), but there is also a M$ hotfix for the STOP error.
I'm sorry, can you elaborate please? I'm not a tech. In fact, I'm relatively dense.

Re:So, the BIOS may automatically set the voltage low… I never thought of that, thanks! I'll give that a try after work.

Re:Hi, Can you check that you have upped the RAM voltage in the BIOS to between 2.6-2.8v.
Start off low and work your way up.
