program to synchronize two hard drives [backup file] [system structure]

Q: I want my music and video folders to synchronize two hard drives. ya I could raid or something, but I would not have mirrored the entire disc, just these folders important

i fear a hard drive can also die I will not asap

i could use ntbackup, but dont want a , i want an actual file on two identical disks (with respect to the specific folders I choose) . ie. i dont want to do any kind of “restore”

it doesnt have to be planned either. I can remember to click something synchronize

and id hope it would be smart enough to only copy / delete things have changed since the last synchronization .

Best Answer: You won't find freeware to do this, but I have something that will come close: www.mozy.com. It costs $4 per month for unlimited personal storage and will backup anything on your computer to an online server at an interval of your choosing. Lose your system's data and you can obtain it by going to the server or have them mail you a disk with your data. It works in the background and is automatic. Other than that, I recommend Ghost or Acronis, but they are more expensive.

I would just clone the old drive to the new drive. Shouldn't take more than 30 minutes. I use TrueImage 10.4942, but there are other programs that can clone drives.

i like it, very easy in use and fast programm.

You could try SyncBack from 2BrightSparks: http://www.2brightsparks.com/downloads.html#freeware I use it to synchronize my backup drive with my main hard drive, but it could do synchronization in both ways (and without deletion of files if you so choose).

me and my brother in law use this as well…i made a post about this a while back and people here like it.

Re:Ghost can do what you want and more.
I like to install my windows system. Install all the apps I use, drivers, patches, etc.
Then ghost the whole thing so I can have a clean windows version in a minute if I want it.

Ghost can do folders, the whole drive, etc.
It will also let you search the backed up folders and drives and restore selected files within the backup sets.
