Quality of PNY 6800 GT Update ** I wanted the EVGA is $ 388 and BIS! *** Do I satisfied? [meg ram] [newegg]

admin / July 31st, 2011/ Posted in Hardware / No Comments »

Q: OK, Ive already ordered from , but I can still cancel. I saw some messages that said they were OK, and EVGA were good (not in stock ), and a few other mentioned.

So what is best bang / buck?

I can not now check ( is down again), but I think my only chices were albrtron (just rmaed a 6600 of them), AOpen, Asus (ran much slower and 128 megs ram), PNY, and a few others Ive never heard of. EVGA is there I think about $ 150 more after delivery.

Well, sorry, I was trying to get it shipped today, so I would have it before my sons new years eve lan party, so I already ordered it. I was going to cancel, but don;t know if I can now. I will see in the morning. That DOES sound like a good deal.

I guess the kids will have to do with the following list that are currently functional:
1) my dually with the x800pro
2) Athlon64 3200+9800pro
3) Athlon64 3200@3500 (939) and Radeon 9000 (this is where the 6800 is going)
4 Athlon64 3000@2.1 + 9800pro
4) Athlon XP2700 + Radeon 9100
5) Athlon xp2400 + Radeon 8500

Wow, that's a lot of sweet gaming computers in one house! Do you guys have LAN parties for family time? :)
Yup, just my son and me, a bachelor(sp??) pad. What woman in their right mind would allow 14 computers in a house ? (a lot for F@H also, and some for work and laptops)

Re:OK, I called , even though it already shipped. They said they would call Fed-Ex (which they said they did later) and the package would be returned to them. So I ordered the new one for $388 (free shipping) I would have got the $350 one, but with shipping it would have been close, and I couldn;t use my VISA with him, only cash. So I am happy (for the moment).

The real test is when it comes, and to see if I have problems with it, like I did the 6600 GT

Re:Stay the hell away from PNY is all I can say.

Re:Oops, should be Newcastle. I was originally planning on a 3500+, but changed my mind and Winchester was ingrained in my head when I was typing my sig, LOL.

Re:Main:
Athlon 64 Winchester 3400+, DFI Lan Party NF3 250, 512*2 Corsair XMS PC 3500, PNY Geforce 6800 GT
WinXP Pro

guy: your sig says winchester 3400+ , i thought winchesters were only in 3000,3200, and 3500+

Re:Get this PNY 6800 GT @ Ultra speeds for 350 shipped. http://{$MySite}/me…2316&enterthread=y (http://{$MySite}/messageview.aspx?catid=45&threadid=1462316&enterth read=y)

I have had a PNY 6800 GT and it overclocked better than the EVGA I had actually. Both cards worked great for me and have the same cooler on it but just a different logo.

If you plan to go on tho. Don't buy it for 420! That is a rip for any GT.

Re:Update. I found the 66.97 whql betas and loaded them for the evga 6600GT and it fixed the artifacts so far. Now what about ? Think I will get something for $388 no restocking or shipping ?????

Re:I've got a PNY and its great I got mine for 301 shipped when Compusa had that price screw up. 430 seems pretty steep for a GT IMO.

Re:I have used several PNY cards for myself and some friends and I have not had any problems at all with them. I am currently using 2 PNY 6800gts for my computers and they are great. They oc easy to ultra levels with no problems at all. However i did not pay that much for mine.

Re:OK, I just got my 6600GT today (for another box, a replacment for the DOA 6600GT I had) and this one was artifacts (its an evga) ! What the he$$ is it with nvidia ? I may have to go back to ATI.

Re:I have an eVGA and it's problem free, I am happy with it.

Re:for $388 AND in stock i'd go for the eVGA

Re:Get the eVGA or BFG. I wouldn't waste my money on a PNY card. I had them ream me on a card and it damaged my comp too. Lost a ton of money.

eVGA is my new favorite, hands down.

Re:I have to respond with a

sux

Re:OK, Now I am pissed. They haven;t even shipped my card yet, and when their site came back up, the evga (which I really wanted) is now $388, and mine even went down to $415. I am calling first thing in the morning……

Re:i'd get the BFG 6800GT oc at BB for $400 + tax (about $420). I just got mine today after my Leadtek crapped out (RMA'ed when wasnt in stock and they just gave me my money back). It's accually quite quiet though the temps are a bit high, but the performance is awsome!

Re:I picked up mine for $385 (Go Go Business Discount) at CompUSA yesterday. I installed it, and ran WoW for the better part of the evening without any issues. I have a Thermaltake Purepower 420 and the rails were steady during the entire time. I get home today and turn it on…artifacts everywhere during the POST!!! I re-seat the card and check the molex cable, same results. I put the card in a different machine – same results.

Suffice it to say, I went back to the store and got a new card. I'm a bit weary of the new card. If the same thing happens, god forbid, this will be the last PNY card I get.

Edit: I forgot to mention that I ran the card at stock speeds.

Re:Its was $420 and $5 shipping

Re:While I did vote for get the PNY, i don't know if I would pay $430.

I got mine @ CompUSA for like 399 and a rebate awhile back..

430 plus shipping seems high.

On the upside, i did manage a overclock of 400/1100

Re:That's a bit pricey. PNY makes nice video cards, but I'd get either eVGA or BFG.
