Question about XP Home vs Pro for new system [upgrading my pc] [home thanks]

Q: Hey everybody, Im (basically everything except the hard drives), one of my posts someone suggested XP Pro . Currently I have XP Home and hoped to use that new computer, because XP Pro is an extra $ 140 dollars really does not fit into my budget. I was wondering if you thought it was really necessary to upgrade to SP2 or if I could get by with just Home .

Thanks for your help.

Re:XP Home is fine – dont waste your $$$

Re:Most people here will tell you that Home is fine. Personally, I am constantly frustrated by my girlfriend's PC (which is XP Home) and its limitations limitations. I couldn't live without Pro. In fact, I'm connected to my home PC via Remote Desktop at this very moment.

If you are in a multiple PC environment where you intend to create a domain or workgroup where resources are shared or think its something you might do in the future, Pro is almost a must if you want to do it and have the ability to secure the systems/network.

Re:Have a look HERE (http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase/windowsxp_home_pro.asp) and see if you really need Pro.

Re:SP2 is a service pack for all versions of XP. You don't need to install Pro for that.
