Re:Via 4.29 4in1 drivers, then your video drivers, yadda, yadda. When it asks for your SBLive cancel and try installing it from the CD – that way you can leave out the SB16 emulation for DOS as this sometimes causes a multitude of IRQ conflicts owing to it being a greedy bastard. Good luck

Re:what ASUS board do you have? if you have a VIA chipset then you should install the VIA 4in1 drivers once win98se first boots to your desktop. then install your video drivers, etc, etc…

Re:I will give that a shot. The more I think about it, the more I think I may just have a bad version of windows 98. I ripped my copy right off hard drive and burned it (it came with my computer, don't have a CD).
I never (to my knowledge) installed drivers for my asus motherboard. I just checked and it came with some sort of driver CD, so maybe I should have? Not sure…

Re:Try pulling out your SBLive and see if it's stable.
If it is, load your ADSL and get your OS updates and patches.
Then try your SBLive again. The key to all of this is shuffling/removing hardware or software to get your system stable. Once your OS is patched with the latest updates, then go back to your other hardware/software and see if or where the instability comes from.
Do you have the latest drivers for your motherboard chipset?

Re:I can't connect to the internet on that computer, it won't let me reinstall access manager for my ADSL… it just gives me errors and illegal operations (mostly the latter). The computer I am on now doesn't have a writable cd drive, so I have no way of getting updates to my computer. I am running the drivers that the sound & video cards came with right now.

Re:When you did the fresh install did you update first? That is always my first goal, get internet up and going, do all them damned updates and patches, then install the rest for the least conflicts and errors. After so long I found it easier to get 98SE installed then immediately upgrade to WinME and that drastically reduced up time.. and now I use Win2k..
