Safely conclude Screen in Win 2K
Q: When I shut down my computer, I get that u0026quot, it is now safe to turn off your computer u0026quot; screen. I have never had that before when I ran 98SE. Is there anyway to that thing off? It is very annoying. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

EDIT:
Just found this topic:
<< When you try to shut down your Windows 2000-based computer, the computer may stop responding (hang), possibly on a black screen. Also, your computer may hang or may not power off when the shutdown procedure reaches the "It is now safe to turn off your computer" screen. >>

Re:there is no archives, you just make sure it is enabled in the bios. then go into the registry. And make sure the ACPI and the APM is set to 1 in the registry. I'm not exactly sure where it is. Somewhere in the local machine\software\microsoft\winNT\setup I think. if you really want to know….private message me and I'll find out when I get home.
Re:Do a search of the archives. This has been covered thoroughly. Just load the threads in text mode and cut n paste to a word processor document and save 'em to your HDD for later reference. Good luck.

Re:Where can I look to make sure that these things are properly installed? I just recently installed 2k and I haven't had a lot fo time to play around with it yet.
Re:Win2K will shut down automatically when ACPI or APM is installed and working properly. Otherwise you get this message…
