Simple question Winddows 2000. [nuts] [windows 2000]
Q: I looked everywhere but can not find the option to search for floppy at startup in Windows 2000. It drives me nuts.

Re:I know what you are talking about. You disable it in win98 cuz it saves time on startup, but haha yeah, i couldn't find it in win2k either.
In win98, it's My Computer->system properties->performance->file system->floppy drive.

Don't recall seeing this as a setting in either OS, although it is an option in a lot of anti-virus software.
On the other hand, I've only been using Windows for a year-and-a-half. I must have missed this one.

When Windows first starts up it does a quick floppy scan.. I know how to disable it in win98 but I can't find it in Windows 2000..

Re:The boot device order decision has to be made in the BIOS. Setting it in the OS is impossible, since the OS hasn't yet been loaded when the bootstrap starts!

Re:I've been running W2K for a few months now and have not seen it either (not looking hard enough? ). But it's not really an issue, just make your choice in the boot order in the bios.
