Try a prog called (http://www..com/). I had the same problem and this solved it.

That did fix the problem. I think cleaning would have done it too, I said I did but apparently XP still hides folders in explorer that you can see in a cmd shell… there were a few dirs that I couldn't get to via explorer that showed me.

I used it to clear the entries and all is good.

So, any tweaks to see even the 'really protected' folders in explorer? I have all the options enabled but I still couldn't see the CDEFGHKI and other 'system' folders that I could at a command prompt. I imagine even if I could see them it wouldn't let me delete them so no biggie.

Thanks all!

Re:Deleted everything in in both that folder (my username) and the default/other folders just to be safe.

Also cleared document history in startmenu as stated above.

Still there… ugh.

Re:Also, clear the recent documents history from your start menu:

Right-Click Start, go to properties -> Customize -> "Advanced" tab -> Clear List

Re:Try deleting the index.dat files in Documents and Settings/<username>/Local Settings//Content.IE5 (as well as in all subfolders).

Re:It is IE, 6.1 latest windows updates… (no SP2 though)…

Registry location above, no data in the typed url area (value not set).

Went ahead and did a search for the URL in the registry (substring actually 'houseontherock') and it found nothing.

System is spyware/adware free according to hijackthis, spybot and adaware and my own experience there.

Re:Registry, Current User>Software>Microsoft>Intenet Explorer>TypedUrls?

Which browser.

Since he said "Internet Options" I'll guess IE
