Spirit and of different size drives [norton ghost] [ghost image]

Q. Can I use on a system drive with a Windows installation and backup. Then take it back up and put it on a faster and bigger HD without problems?

Do I need a partition that is the same size as the disk that I made the Ghost?

Thanks in advance.

Re:problem now…I got a 250GB SATA drive I was going to backup a 120GB drive to and when I boot from the new drive after using ghost to do a drive copy I get a ton of OS errors. Can't open the users control pannel and other anomolies.

I also can't startuop from the new drive unless I have the old drive plugged in. The OS will load and pause just before the welcome screen and I can move the curser but nothing else.

Any suggestions?

Yep, as long as the source drive is the same or smaller than the destination drive you'll be fine. In my experience the larger destination drive will contain all of the data from the smaller source drive but have all of it's space available. FWIW I've only used the DOS command line version.

I don't see why the windows GUI one would be any different, but thanks.

Re:nice…thx

reason I asked is I have SATA drives now, but they are first gen from my P4 system. Now that I have the capability to use the new 3gb/s drives I was thinking of getting a newer one which is faster and backing up my system to it.
