Symantec Norton Anti-Virus Software [virus definitions] [symantec norton]
Q: How come when I have the latest virus definitions or says one more can not be installed download? Whats going on?
Best Answer: i suggest you do not bother with norton as it's detection rate is a joke .
i suggest you try one of the many free anti virus systems.
they out-perform anything by norton.
i suggest you try Avast .
you can not get a better anti virus system for free.
it has many features you will have to pay for in other systems.

don't forget to register or you will only have it for 60 days
by registering you will get a licence for a full year.
just re-register at the end of the year to get another one year licence.
if you feel you would be even safer with a firewall also then
try this one it's also free and it has no conflicts with avast

over 80 million people who use Avast can't be wrong.
or can they.

Re:you probably have a virus. try FDISK.
Re:If you are installing multiple updates, try doing one at a time. I have this problem sometimes in new installs when I'm doing the first big update.

try BUYING the software and seeing what happens :-p
Yep, its possible this is a culprit in a case like this, and buying it and registering the software would remedy it.
Re:If you look at the list of installed components, it should give you the ability to click or right click on the definition that did not install properly and you should be able to get more information on what happened. Also, you may run into problems if you are just getting the definitions and not the program updates that go along with them. There is a system in live update that assigns prerequisites for downloading and installing certain components to guarantee that what you do have will work and not trash your system, but it isn't totally infallible. I would also suggest just rebooting your machine and trying again.

i/expressions/rolleye.gif happy you're one of the trendy warez pirates now?
Re:I use Norton AV 2003 and use the automatic virus updating feature…works fine. Perhaps you need to uninstall and reinstall (Norton).
Re:I'd double check that you're getting the right def. I've grabbed the wrong one from them before since they have quite a few depending on your system.
