Re:well, its getting a little frustrating lately. I have about 20 WU's waiting to be unloaded and the Berkeley bandwidth is seriously slowing me down. And my fastest PC is now without WU's :(

But I'm still crunching and hopefully, the situation changes soon enough.

Re:Crunching is cool! Since I started I am in the "IN" crowd now. Before I was just a geek with no friends, now I am a geek with DC friends!!!

Re:I've already crunched 217 WU's. Join the TeAm now and help us beat DSLR to the ground! :D :)

Re:Help us make it into the SETI top 10!!!

Stop by the DC Forum, and see what all the hype is about !!!

Re:Join TeAm Anandtech and help us get to the top spot in the world!!!

How many times in history has this kind of group madness served to cause great strife and suffering? TA SETI now needs a flag and a political doctrine, or a TA SETI manifesto!

Re:Go TeAm Go!

This race rocks! :)

Re:Join Team Anandtech!!!

Re:I personally have 5 PC's crunching and munching away. Since the call went up almost two months ago, my results received has zoomed from a paltry 35 to 295!

AMD Athlon XP at 1.4ghz
AMD Athlon C at 1.2 ghz
AMD Duron 1ghz
AMD Athlon at 900mhz
AMD K6-2+ at 450mhz

All are attached to my little home network (part 10/100 ethernet, part 10mb HPNA hooked up to a cable connection). If you have an old geezer PC lying around somewhere, crank it up and start crunching!:D

Re:We're closing on 10th place in the world, but we can't do it without help from our fellow AnandTech members!!!

Send a few spare CPU cycles our way… won't you ?? :D :D:D

Re:Join TeAm Anandtech and help us get to the top spot in the world!!! :D :D :D

We need you to help us get there so join please! :D

Re:guy

1GHz AMD desktop
1GHz Pentium-M notebook
700Mhz Pentium III desktop
300Mhz Pentium II desktop

These should run seti fine.

200MHz Pentium MMX Desktop < this may complete a Work Unit every day and a half or so, it's your call. I run it on my 233MHz P MMX, every little bit helps:)

<< Will it cause long term damage by overheating the processor (especially on the notebook computer?) >>

Running seti will not cause damage but it could make you aware of a failing piece of hardware sooner. After running it on a system here at the house I discovered a bad stick of Crucial RAM. FYI I run seti@home on my Toshiba P2-233 notebook with zero problems.

<edit> click the link in my sig if you need any help setting up the seti@home cli client. I would also advise that you use a proxy server such as Orange Kids <edit>

Re:Alright I'm new to the distributed computing world…

I have the following power to donate if you can answer a few questions…

1GHz AMD desktop
1GHz Pentium-M notebook
700Mhz Pentium III desktop
300Mhz Pentium II desktop
200MHz Pentium MMX Desktop
120MHz Pentium Desktop

Should I run this software on all these or just the faster ones? Will it cause long term damage by overheating the processor (especially on the notebook computer?)
