Problem getting dial-up modem. Need help solving problems. [device manager] [dial tone]

Q: Hi.

I just reinstalled Windows 98SE and now they have someone on the computer and the modem can not choose. He says that the modem says no dial tone. Is there a way to solve the modem to ensure that it works?

BTW . The modem works perfectly and this configuration was fine, so I doubt its the hardware. Even when I go to device manager, says that the modem is working.

Just setting up a Q6600, Asus P5K mobo and Vista Home Premium. I have all the drivers installed for the chipset and what not, but Vista shows “Not available” for the rating system, processor and RAM. CPU-Z shows all the correct information so I know that everything works, and Device Manager shows all 4 CPUs at 2.4 GHz. Is this something that I worry about or should I just leave?
