Raid will work with different driving speeds [gig hd] [drive speed]
Q: I have two Maxtor 60 gig HD. One is 7200 and the other 5400. I asumming it would work, but what would be the preformance? Would it be better for them as master / slave?

Q: OK, I pulled 40 Gig HD and created ghost file from my desktop computer. I then took a new 120gig HD and restored the image to the HD and put the HD back into the laptop. when I boot freezes at the Windows Welcome screen where you would select users. wtf?
things note:
yes I have remade the partition active
i the image twice and tried to restore 3 times the same . results
it happens in safe mode and check well

Best Answer: It could be the power supply as suggested which may have been stripped if you purchased the computer used. Also it could be an overheat problem. Q: I have a Dell OptiPlex GX1 with a Pentium II 400. I tried to install a 20 Gig HD. I keep getting a “Primary Hard Disk Drive 1 not found error. Now it will not even detect the old 6.4 Gig HD.
The error I can continue to use the F1 key, and the OS loads, but there is a significant delay during POST.
I type IDE device set to Auto in the BIOS. Any other ideas about what is going on?

I newbie to have a NEC P233mmx, w98, 128 ram . 2 GIG HD and many of the SW with the machine new. I also have a recovery CD, an all or nothing install.
I also have a CD burner, and a ZIP, floppie.
I also have an older Phoenix BIOS (1996.1997?) Maybe 4.05 V? that might cause me problems with a larger HD. This new machine was a P133 NOT mmx.
