Want to be my father-in-law to get wireless [wrt54gs] [laptop]

Q: He really does care as much as I do about speed, I want him to be able to take his laptop around the house. I LOVE my WRT54GS, but I wonder if I should just buy it pre-N-tech or not .

Problem with WRT54G SSID broadcast [linksys wrt54g] [laptop]

Q: Ive Linksys WRT54G v3.1 with latest Linksys firmware.
I him with WEP encryption.
windows xp (for now) 0.

, when I go to the SSID broadcast, laptop detects the netwrok, I enter the key and it works fine.
Then I disable SSID boadcast, yet in order (I see it as avaibale network in the list). But if I SSID, and then return to the old SSID (no broadcast), laptop does not show the network as available, and I can not connect.
Same problem when I reboot after disabling

Re:* Unless you are using LMHOSTS files for name lookup, disable LMHOSTS* Unless you have a WINS server, and its address is being set by DHCP, change the NetBIOS option to either "Enable" or "Disable" instead of "Use DHCP"(can't remember which one, so you'll have to experiment a bit, sorry).
