Added new server . but you can not see ping [network neighborhood] [workgroup name]

Q: I added a new server on my network. I can ping from my old server and my old server can ping to the . but they can not see each other through the network of the neighborhood. The new server can not see through . its the same workgroup name. What can be wrong? thanks

Q: Its been a looooong time since I have a fresh install of WinXP. (Ive always used a Ghost image.)

Anyway, there are no icons (IE, My Computer, Network Neighborhood, etc.) on my screen.

newbie question about file sharing and Win2k . [network neighborhood] [hello everyone]

Q: Hi everyone!

i am a newbie to the format of Windows NT, I just installed 2K Pro on my machine. I have the network already set up our pitiful 56k connection (that sounds dirty now share days does it?). My question is, how can I in my folders on my 2k machine from my other machines. It always comes up with a password box when I try to open it from the network neighborhood. I know this is a simple problem to solve . So be patient with me while I learn the ins and outs of 2k.

Printer Sharing – Windows 98/2000 [network neighborhood] [printer sharing]

Q: My printer is connected to a Windows 2000 machine, and it is shared. Of my system (Win2k), I get access to the printer and shared folders. However, from my sisters computer (Windows 98), I get a prompt for a password when I try to add a network printer or the first computer by browsing Network Neighborhood. The Windows 2000-based systems can access the 98, but my sister can not browse or access to our systems printer.

How her I can connect to the printer?

eliminating the network of “My Network Places” icon in Win2k? [network neighborhood]

Q: I know in win98 use them to call IT network win2k neighborhood and called the My Network Places now.

Is there a way of removing the icon on the desktop, so users do not see?

Id just want to hide as the user.

My Network Places (WinXP) is much slower than Win98 Network Neighborhood [network neighborhood] [imagination]

Q: Maybe its just my imagination but I swear that My Network Places on my WinXP Pro machine is much slower and less reliable than the Network Neighborhood on my win98se machine. I think I read somewhere that My Network Places may be problematic, but is it normal for the worse than Win98SE? If so, this is something that will probably be fixed by Microsoft in the future, or is there a current workaround? Thank you. RW

Q: I am looking to set up a very simple Windows fileserver. Can not go Linux.

People will just access to files and folders on it via the Network Neighborhood. The catch is that I need more than 10 concurrent users access to files needs. So that throws Win 2k or XP Pro window.

So I looked at Windows Server OSs. It seems there are multiple packages License Client runs 5 to 25 more. If I do not need the server to a domain host, I still do it for years for more than 10 licenses

Heres the problem. I put a small LAN in my home using a Netgear router about a year ago. Everything worked well. I have a 98 box and an XP Pro box on the LAN. tnen about 4 weeeks ago, my XP machine was not able to network as it was already browsing.
