Q: She shares a house with two other girls (who share an HP Pavilion PC). Wiring the house with Cat5 is not an option (its a rental). They just set up with cable internet (Bresnan) and want to share the connection. None of these girls are gamers . not sure about boyfriends, but they give a damn about them?

What I would do is put a wireless router to the PC next to my daughter (she also has her office at the cable modem) and wire it with a cable (save $ $ on your wireless network). Th

Best way to a secure wireless router [wpa psk] [wireless router]

2011-04-17 / Networking / 0 Comments

Q: Pretty much a newbie question, but what are the steps to be taken to a wireless connection as much as possible to secure. The only things that come to mind are .
1) Grant access only certain MAC addresses (if possible)
2) WEP

Does disable SSID broadcast to do anything other than the name broadcast?

Then also what is WPA-PSK?

Thanks
