TV Tuner w / RCA inputs on the TV replaced [rca inputs] [tv tuner]
Q: Im moving into a dorm this summer and will not have enough space to bring my TV: (
Which cards do you recommend that would allow me to change my LCD TV in an all RCA inputs, S-video, etc?

Re:well, there are several solutions. trere are USB capture devices, but the picture quality is poor, because the video is compressed to low resolution and bitrate to get across the USB 1.1 bus. If there are ones that support USB 2.0 or firewire they might be better.
There are PCI cards (The ATI TV Wonder comed to mind, I think Happague makes something similar) that add video capture to your existing system.
there are also AGP and PCI cards that combine the capture and tuner with a video card, (The ATI All-In-Wonder comes to mind, as does the Matrox G450 eTV… the G450 is an older video chip, and there might be a newer one, knowing Matrox, it would be like 550 or 650)
I have an ATI All-In-Wonder Radeon, (The Original Radeon!) 64 MB DDR AGP that is currently in my Audio/Video box. Graphisc performance is fine bt me, and Unreal tournament, (Not 2003 nind you) runs at 50+ fps on my Athlon 800 system, (There are newer All-In-Wonders with faster Radeon chips now)

Re:Get one of the WinTV models or the TVWonder VE models. The cheapest you can get will work just fine if you don't need perfect quality (which I've never gotten with any model I've tried). Just make sure it has the connectors you want.

I don't think I'm ever going to be recording anything, so that's not important.
I'm looking for the cheapest one that will do the job reasonably.

Re:Pretty much any TV tuner card comes with a cable to breakout to RCA, and most also have S-video, along with regular coax. You can also select which input to use to watch TV so you can have multiple devices connecting to it. ATi's TVWonder line and Hauppage's WinTV are the most common. You could also get an ATi All-In-Wonder video card which has a tuner on it. Or any video card with video-in capability will accept input from RCA and S-video (using a cable adapter again) but the external device has to do tuning.
