Re:OK, now i've dl'd abicoder 3.5.9.3 – seems better interface…

Re:ok this is lame – i cant get it to encrypt files, but only txt files???

Re:i went with GPG with WinPT gui. ill see how it goes….

Re:PGP source is released, although it seems the last available version is 6.5.8.

Re:Abi-Coder (http://www.abisoft.net/bd.html) is an incredible encrypter, up to 448bit blowfish encryption. It looks like they are charging for it now but if you look around you can get a previous version of it for free (legally).

win xp

my understanding was that the source for pgp for windows wasn't open for inspection to see if it really was secure., well at least the comments on download.com indicated that.

that's true so use GPG if that is a concern

:D right, because CNet knows all about encryption. i/expressions/rolleye.gif

PGP 8 0wnz j00. It's complete overkill for most requirements … PGP = Pretty Goddamn Paranoid.

pgp has a freeware version for windows.

depends on what OS ans what application you want to use it with.

Re:gpg might fit the bill. There are probably font-ends to it or something.
