Ubuntu started asking [linux] [60hz]
Best Answer: sorry to say most of us are begginers with linux
and so far your questions have been more advanced
there is a bit of a learning curve for linux it will take time just like for me it took a while to tune it to my needs and like the first guy said its still the minority I just spoke to a profesional IT and evan he does very little with linux sorry to say but the only advice is to just take it one day at a time
Re:Okay thanks, I'll try it out, only 2 hours left til I quit, wanna get home lol
Though since I'm totally new I have no idea how to install the codec once I've downloaded it and run the conf and make sure setup is right heh. Though I guess I can look thru more guides
Was hoping it would autodetect sound and video:P
Re:Hmm, I dont know much about the new intel stuff.
A quick bit of googleing found me this.
http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/dlh…oftware=True&title=HD%20Audio%20CODECs (http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/dlhd-2.aspx?lineid=2004052&famid=2004052&series=2004061&Software=True&title=HD%20Audio%20CODECs)
Also run alasconf and make sure the card is setup right then run alsamixer and make sure it is unmunted and all the sound channels are turned on.
Re:All computer geeks are suppose to know that by heart aren't they?
Hehe since I'm at work I can't check it up, but I looked at the site where I ordered it a while ago so I think it's a: Intel Cherry Creek i915P 4DDR2-DIMM 4PCI 2PCIe SATA Audio LAN Socket775 ATX.
Product link: http://www.intel.com/design/motherbd/cy….htm?iid=ipp_browse+desktopbd_d915pcy& (http://www.intel.com/design/motherbd/cy/index.htm?iid=ipp_browse+desktopbd_d915pcy&)
So the Audio would be Intel? High Definition Audio subsystem using the Realtek ALC860 audio codec.
Hope this helps ![]()
Re:what motherboard do you have?
Re:Ok, thanks a lot, I'll look into it when I get home from work
If I get the resolution to work and my music/videos, I'll be happy ![]()
Re:For NTFS http://www.ubuntuguide.org/#windows
For the X windows screen res problem, first try apt-get nvidia-settings and use that managager. It should autoset your res. If it doesn't, you can edit your /etc/X11/xorg.conf file to include the res you want. You should be able to find plenty of tutorials on that.
