Want to build a wireless network u003c400m [400m] [right direction]
Q: I want a wireless network can connect a machine to friends who live to build is about 400meters from me. I wonder what kind of hardware I would need to do. There is a small hill between us and I hope it will not be a problem. Can anyone here started in the right direction as I know squat about wireless networks, the hardware is or how expensive it might be?
So basically I should be aware of all hardware I will need two machines to connect.
Re:Nope. None.
To quote an old banner (from Crosstalk Terminal emulation ~20 years ago….)
" 186,000 miles a second isn't just a good idea, it's the LAW!!
Unless you got some new ideas on warping RF in airspace in which you have no control …
Good Luck

Re:None.
Clear LOS is an absolute (actually LOS + Fresnel Zone).
Unless you have a tall building about halfway (which both would need LOS+) between that you can form a bounce, and you have sufficiently tight antennas, and power (without violating federal law) ….
In other words: none. You won't be able to do it.
Good Luck

Re:What are my options if i don't have a clear line of site?
Re:To attempt 1200' Wireless Bridging the Antennae have to be outside placed high facing one the other with clear line of sight.

Re:So one of those and one wireless networking kit like this (http://www.pcworld.com/howto/graphics/117807-2211p094-2b.jpg)which consists of a WGT624 router, WG311T PCI adapter, and WG111 USB adapter would be a complete setup for two machines? Would an antenna kit like that one work with just any home networking kit?
Re:Actually you need something more like one of these:

You need something that has high gain in one direction. The antenna on your link is omnidirectional.
Re:Ok i'm doing some research here…
I'm thinking i'll need a standard wireless networking kit and maybe one of these (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16833164149)?
