Re:Seems pointless. I guess if your ISP has sucky DNS servers and OpenDNS has servers close to you it could be helpful. There's no real downside to it – they're staying in business just by advertising on typo search pages, so you're not installing anything. It's just another DNS server.

Re:Be smarter on your surfing habts and you should be safe. As far as performance goes, your ISP should provide you with a pretty fast DNS server(s). You could also use Verizon's public DNS servers: 4.2.2.1-4.
