What should I do when he says “No operating system found”? [hard drive] [operating system]

Q: Read title.

Oh yeah . it is a problem with the . it is an OS, but this shows when I boot the computer. I do not know what to do . maybe I should go read my A + Certification book that I bought . last year.

That's something to try if you are running 98 or 95. Don't do this on 2k or XP.

What you should try is booting from the 98 floppy and typing Fdisk /mbr

This will solve the problem, I bet.

Re:Before Format/Reinstall you might want to try this:

Make sure your HD is being picked up correctly in the Bios:

if everything in Bios is good,boot with a startup disk in Drive Re:,and do the command "sys C:" without the "".

If that don't do the trick,Boot form Floppy disk again and check out to make sure that your HD is set to Active partition in fdisk.
type "Fdisk" without "" to get into Fdisk utility.

if drive is set to active,and all above has been checked,it could just be your cable.change cables then try again.

other then that,it could be a boot Virus,or you may need to Format and Reinstall.
