what to buy? PowerDVD or WinDVD?
Best Answer: Honestly these computers are about the same thing. One has a slightly better Processor (the Pentium 4) but the other has a bigger HDD. Additionally the one has a Media Card Reader which could come in handy….
My advice to you though is simply this…Find someone in your area that knows how to build custom computers, and have them configure a PC for about the same amount as these two computers in questions with an AMD processor instead of Intel. You will find that the performance is Enhanced.

VLC, it's free.
I mainly use mplayer on Linux which is also free.
Re:some years ago, perhaps there was noticeable difference between the two and few other softwares.
but nowadays, you pick the cheapest one… if you're paying for it that is.

Re:I've used both. Really don't have a preference, but I do use power dvd more often.
Re:I vote for WinDVD. It can play .mpg and .dat files pulled out of SVCDs.
PowerDVD is okay except that it leaves a stupid ass file called "default.pls" in EVERY directory that it opens a file from. These files don't take up space but they're annoying and useless. It gets old deleting them all the time, and I now hate the program. There's no way to disable whatever it's doing that for and nothing in the registry nor on Google on how to prevent it from happening (other than using WinDVD instead.)
