Re:guy, I gave up long ago, now I just get DB9<->RJ45 make your own kits from my local Micro Center ($3 ea) and build 'em myself. I can dig up the pinout that works if you'd like. With those adapters, some cat5e cables, and a crimp setup, you can build yourself a very handy serial port survival kit (all your roll-overs, Cisco adapters, other adapters, null modems, 9/25 adapters, gender benders, etc…). If you do a lot of work at sites with random gear, it's probably in your best interests to build a good serial survival kit… otherwise you'll always manage to end up stuck one adapter away from connecting two things together.

You'd have to really try to fry a Cisco console port. Don't worry about it.

I could try and wing it from this

but frankly thats a pain in the ass, and god forbid I screw up and wire something in a way that fries the console port.

I'm absolutly stunned at how impossible it is to find cisco equipment on the web. I even put my zip into the cisco 'partner locator' and it said there are 0 resellers within a 100 mile radius of me. Funny… I live 100 miles from both Philly and NYC.
