Where to get a Cisco or Checkpoint Firewall to find a small home office in the cheap side? [cisco] [firewall]
V: The budget is limited.
Thanks

Re:I go with the linux solutions as mentioned. More control and no license and support fee. meanwhile you get all the support from here.

I use a safe@office appliance ( aka checkpoint ). Works well, lots of features.

Get a snapgear, but $200 only gets you a lower end model.
See if you can get this in that price:
SG300 (http://www.cyberguard.com/snapgear/SG300.html)
VPN (not passthru, but full Ipsec and PPtp endpoint), never anyadditional licensing, etc).
Have the 550 which I LUV, but that was $400ish

Re:If the budget is really that limited why not just use a linksys router? The WRT54G (http://www.linksys.com/products/product.asp?grid=33&scid=35&prid=601) has a stateful packet inspection firewall (SPI) built into it?
And Cisco owns linksys now. So there you go a Cisco firewall for less than $200
For a little bit more though if you want a little more robust security I would reccomend a Watchguard appliance (http://www.watchguard.com/products/edge.asp) There are different models depending on the size of the office, but most likely for a SOHO type setting the x5 would be your best bet.
These are equivilant (or possibly better than) to the Cisco 501 (http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/vpndevc/ps2030/ps2031/index.html)
Both of these are roughly $400 brand new, but you may be able to get a better deal on ebay as someone else mentioned.
Re:You could try to find a Cisco PIX firewall for that price or just look to use a linux solution (IP-Chains) or something like that…
Re:Your going to be hard pressed to find either for that kind of money.
That being said here is the only place I can think of to find one: ebay (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=51350&item=5727778 177&rd=1)
Re:Around $200.00. Do you have any available within that range?
