Will this setup work for my Xbox 360 wireless network? [crossover cable] [xbox 360]
Question: Hello everyone. I have an Xbox 360 for Christmas and I wonder if this setup will work . see diagram below.
Xbox 360 Crossover Cable —- — u003e laptop (with wireless and wired) link —- wireless connection to the router modem —- —- u003e u003e internet.
Will this work? Me, the Xbox hard connected to the laptop via a crossover cable than the laptop will be connected wirelessly to the router (bridge the wired and wireless connection) 0.
Thank you all for suggestions. I think it will not work cause the Xbox will not have its own IP assigned that way.

Re:Okay guys…well I got it working for a while, then my internet went out and everything freaked out. When my net came back it worked again (after playing with the settings for a while), but I was getting a "Network IP address conflict" error. Surprisingly, the lag wasn't bad at all for the hour it was working.
I have my wireless nic set at 192.168.1.148 IP and 192.168.1.1 gateway and DNS. My wired NIC hooked to the xbox is set at 192.168.1.7 IP and 192.168.1.1 gateway and DNS. Any ideas what would cause the conflict error? Thanks again guys.

no, if it's bridged, your router will assign an address…
I had some lag issues doing this (with a regular x box a while back) ymmvYap, it even worse with ICS.
It is working but it is not really a Good solution.

Re:Sorry for the double post, but I just thought of this. I'll have to manually assign the xbox an address since a bridge is esentially meant to join two networks (assign it an address and give it the router address), correct?

Re:Thanks. My laptop is running XP Pro so I guess I could just bridge the wireless nic and wired nic and be good to go?

Re:Yes, But.
If your Laptop runs WinXP Pro, you have to Bridge with WinXP Pro the two Laptop's NICs.
Otherwise, (if it is WinXP Home) you need to use ICS.
Why? Because you need an additional Routing for the X-Box.
Or (the best solution), you can spend $40 more and buy a Wireless Router that can be configures as a Client and use it as a Game Box adaptor.
