Will Vista 64-bit problematic? [drivers games] [2gb]

Q: Will Vista 64-bit I problems with different drivers / games? I would also greatly benefit from 4GB of RAM over ? There is a big deal at this time to get up to 2 GB for $ 62 after rebate and I would jump on it if it is worth.

Re:On certain hardware setups (where drivers are lacking) it can be, just see what is going on with the nForce 1, 2, and 3 chipsets….

Basically, nVidia dropped support for all chipsets before the nforce4 and is ignoring all of their customers who own them (which is why I will never buy a chipset from them again).

Re:My only issue with Vista64 has been the lack of driver support for my Line 6 hardware; other than that everything works, including all my games.

Re:Even if you weren't getting Vista64 I'd buy the extra ram. You won't be able to use the full amount, but you'll still get more than out of it. In Vista32 I added 4gb to my system(3.07gb as seen by Windows) and I noticed a small performance boost. It was nothing drastic, but it did help. Vista's Superfetch makes maxing out your ram worthwhile. In XP anything more than you needed was a waste, but Vista will put any extra ram to good use.

From what I've read around people have been having very good experiences with Vista64. You may have some problems with drivers if you use obscure hardware, but everything should work ok. I'll be switching to Vista64 sometime this fall. I'm going to keep my XP32 partition for awhile in case I have problems, but I really don't anticipate needing it.

Re:Providing you have the drivers and especially if you go 4GB,Vista x64 is the right option, personally I don't have any problems with my Vista x64 HP,I do game a lot(I find it great for 32 bit games) and virtually all the normal common 32 bit software works fine ie CCleaner,Firefox,Thunderbird,Spybot,SpywareBlaster , Speedfan,Nero 7 etc…

Re:You'll have no more problems with drivers than you would with Vitsa 32 – to get their drivers and hardware certified by microsoft, hardware manufacturers have to have drivers for both 32 and 64 bit versions. I'm not saying you won't have driver problems, you likely have lots of probelsm, driver is only one of them.

Re:I think you should check with all vendors to see if they have 64bit drivers for your system then you won't have any problems.
