Win 98 shuts #$%#! [win 98] [disgust]
Q: I formatted my friends computer and now turns itself off after running 10 minutes or so.
Any idea why is this?

Best Answer: One word you *ucked up . i say that why cause if you freakin laptop came with basic that means it ALL it can HANDLE so you shouldnt even install home premium you installed Ultimate shame on you man.
Now getting back to the question return the Ultimate disk and boot off the Backup disk that came with your Laptop or just go get a home basic edition and boot off that or downgrade to XP cause its better than basic.I'd appreciate a thanks and 10 points.(or maybe some karma) hahahahahahahaha

If I remeber correctly, 98 auto sets the hibernation for 10mins.

It is an old junky Compac, that is about 10 years old…so old that it has a 266mhz slot processor.
I keep telling him that he needs to throw it away, but he insists on putting more money into it.
He had me put a new Maxtor hd in it that he bought at Circuit City.
I just want to get it fixed and be done with it…cause now hes bitching at me.
I tell him that wasting money on that thing is like throwing money into a Ford Pinto

Re:Have you scanned for viruses? Run adaware, etc. Could also be a bad stick of memory or a power supply.
