Any suggestions would be great.
Re:Thanks for the Help guys
Re:You might see if you could find a win95 cd available in the forsale/trade forum.
The full version of win98se upgrade cd is bootable from a cdrom, and you can do a clean install with it, but you need to show the 98 install program, certain files from the previous OS. Which in the case of a fresh install, you would have to let it read a win95 cd or files from a floppy during the 98 install.
Re:IIRC you need the PRECOPY2.CAB file from the original full version of the Windows 95 disc. See here (http://www.btinternet.com/~robert.bale1/win98up.htm) though it details Windows 98->Windows 98SE I believe the process is similar.

You don't need any files on your hardrive. All you need is to keep the installation media for your qualifying product handy and put it into the CD/DVD or floppy drive when asked by the upgrade setup.
If you need a bootdisk, go to Bootdisk.com (http://www.bootdisk.com/) and download an image.
Sounds like he lost the original Win95 CD though:
I lost my win95 Bootable full CD.
If booting was the problem, a bootable Win95 CD wouldn't be needed, as the 98SE disc should be bootable anyway.
Yes but the Win98 won't install unless you have a valid older Microsoft OS.

Re:dude, no1 knows exactly what windows files are needed. best bet is to copy C:\Windows and C:\Program Files to get everything and all the files in the root C:\ directory.
any reasons why u would want to format if you stand to lose your OS?
