Windows 2000, ATA/100 and performance Question [abit kt7a raid] [raid motherboard]
Q: 1. When I went to Task Manager in Windows 2000 (Shift-Ctrl-Esc), I used two (maybe three) have tabs at the top, but now they seemed to disappear. Is there a way for me to get it back? At the moment all I have is the key to ongoing programs, the end task, switch and new task.
2. I am running an Abit motherboard RAID KT7A, and when my hard drive (IBM Deskstar) on the RAID controller for the full ATA/100 capible get it, Windows gives me an error and asks me to restart. Do I have a sort of drivers or anything special to install to make it work or not ATA/100 just do not work on Windows 2000?
3. My computer does not look too good performance despite the 1.2 GHz processor and 512 SDRAM PC133. There seems to be a slight delay after clicking on something to load and move the mouse sometimes very slow or temporarily stop. All I could do to see what is causing the problem and / or how to fix it?
Thanks.
Re:OK, I reformatted…now how do I get rid of the old installation? I get prompted to use the first one or second one, but I don't need the second anymore.
Thanks, yet again.

Re:if you have what you want saved backed up, you should just be able to boot off the win2k cd and install from that. it can format for you if you want it to
as far as sp2, last time i checked, sp1 was the only service pack available…and that can be gotten by running windows update.
Re:How do I reinstall Windows? I tried installing it from the CD but it didn't do anything. Do I have to format and then install? Also, where can I get SP2? as this should fix the ATA/100 problem.
Thanks again.
Re:I think that you need SP2 installed on 2000 to get Ultra100 working correctly.
Check on the 2000 microsoft site here (http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q260/2/33.ASP) and try the fix reccomended
Re:sounds like you need a good re-install….and soon!
