Q: Okay, I got my Asrock Dual SATAII.

Everything is good addition to this large porblem.
The the Bios in the main channel to see Sata. That is good. But when I boot from the to install XP, can not find any hard drives? what is it?

Why Windows cannot detect when the drive show on startup and Bios.

help please.

Best Answer: This is obviously tricky, so i am only giving some thoughts, sorry no definitive answer.

There are different versions of SATA. Could you motherboard only support lower bandwidth SATA?
Could this be a BIOS problem? Did you try upgrading the firmware?

Could the disk be damaged? Do you hear it spinning normally?

You could try to plug in the disk in an external bay and connect it via USB. This may tell you whether it is working.

If it is the disk controller which is faulty, you may try to investigate it. In Linux you can type "lspci" to see if something like "SATA controller" is correctly detected.

welcome to installing an old OS….

but hey, it has better hardware support then linux, right?

got it. actually. What happened was that the RAID mode was ON in the bios. Turning it off took care of it

PWNED :D

And now tell us which 5 year old linux distros would support it?

Re:Even SP2 won't do it if you use RAID arrays….but yeah, make a floppy disc per manufacturer instructions, and when windows starts to load all the stuff at the start, hit F6 when it says "Hit F6 for extra drivers" or whatever…

If you have one these new keyboards with WONDERFUL f-locks, make sure its on ;)

Re:As above – or try with a an XP disc that has SP2 integrated into it

Re:You have to press F6 at the start of the install. Have your SATA drivers on a floppy…Press F6 (I believe that's it…it flashes at the bottom right after the ASR)…Point it toward your drivers…
