Windows Update will not work [windows update site] [windows xp]
Q: I have Windows XP and I can no longer use Windows Update site. When I click Scan your computer for updates it tells me that no updates are found, even though Im sure that updates (eg SP1). Anyone experiencing something similar?

I had the same problem with my legit retail XP. Come to find out I had to select a language in the internet tools, options, general, language tab. After selecting English USA then the update site worked fine.
You're the MAN!!!! The rest of you guys scared me with your illegal cd keys and etc…!!!!
Re:Do what Mastertech above said. That will fix your problem.
Re:You can change the installed key to a new one without reinstalling. There is a utility out there, sorry I lost the link. Do a search for xpsp1.zip. There are 2 small apps, 1 will show you your current key and the other will fire off the activation wizard.

Re:I don't remember now, but I don't think I used any cd key during install. It never asked me…
Re:If you have a valid corp cd key you can change that without reinstalling. I don't have the url handy but there have been many guides on how to do it written up lately. I'll assume if its a corp version and it caused problems it was the famous devil's own key that was all over the place, that one is quite public to MS now.
EDIT… beat me with the reply, if you are trying to go from corp to regular pro I really don't think there is a way to do that without reinstalling.
Re:I had a valid and legal version of XP installed. When reinstalling a few months ago I used corporate edition that I had at home at the time. Once again I had no idea it was gonna make any difference. I don't even have that corporate cd anymore… I do have my regular edition though.

I did install a corporate edition, but only because at the time I dind't think it made a difference. I do have a valid cd + cd key though. Is there anyway I can enter my cdkey, or should I just reinstall?
valid and legal are two different things
j/k
Well, how did] you get a legal copy of the corporate edition?

From the post it sounds like you don't but have you recently installed SP1 for XP? Many people seemed to have the same problem after doing so.
Nope, no SP1 one for me. I actually went to windows update to install it.
