Windows Vista Beta 2 x64 – drivers needed [x64 drivers] [windows vista beta]
Best Answer: You can only upgrade 32-bit version of Windows XP to 32-bit Windows Vista. A 32-bit version of Windows XP does not recognize the 64-bit Windows Vista installer engine.
Upgrading from Windows XP Media Center 2002 to any version of Vista REQUIRES a clean installation.
But if you are using Windows XP Media Center 2005, you may upgrade to 32-bit Windows Vista Home Premium and Ultimate. Otherwise, a clean installation is also needed.
To backup your files, you can transfer them to external drives or transfer across a network using "Windows Easy Transfer".

You can also transfer all your files to an external hard drive or partition your main drive to so you can move your files to the second partition.

Re:Thanks people.
I gave up on it for the day, with many failures and only 1 success. The Canon Pixma MP500 XP x64 drivers installed and operate without problems. nVidia has drivers from nForce4 + in the "Beta section"; however, they don't come with an installer and the instructions are poor. Realtek also has Beta drivers. They won't load properly.
I was wondering: Why is it that when I right click the .INF files and choose "Install", I get the "Installation failed." error message every time?

Re:nVidia would probably have the drivers on their website, but remember that you are running the Beta. And a 64-bit Beta at that, which makes the drivers even more rare.

Re:Oops, I pressed Enter instead of Tab on that last post.
Here's my related system hardware:
ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe
AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+
1.0 GB OCZ Platinum [2x 512 MB Dual Channel]
ASUS EAX850 Pro
2 WD Raptor 74GB [nvRAID]
Canon Pixma MP500 Multifunction
Drivers are my issue at this time. Will Server 2003 x64 drivers work? I read that Vista more closely resembled Server 2003 than XP. I need the following drivers:
nForce4 SLI AMD [PCI Express]
Realtek ALC850 AC'97
Canon Pixma MP500 Multifinction
Also, there are a couple of "Unknown Devices" which I cannot identify.
