Q: Hi, I have a new installation and started installing XP Pro w/SP2 on it but right after the format it does not have to copy the files and reboot it says: . I understand why he says that the error, but I can not figure out why not to install the files. My system is 977 503 3000 a

AMD64 Epox EP 9NPA + Ultra Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4
CORSAIR Value Select 1GB (2 x 512 MB) 184-pin DDR SDRAM Unbuffered DDR 400 Dual Deskstar T7K250 160GB 7200 RPM 8MB Cache SATA Channel
HITACHI 3.0Gb/s
Antec SmartPower 2.0 SP-500 ATX12V 500W Power Supply
GIGABYTE Geforce 6600 256MB DDR PCI Express x16 graphics card

I not hit F6 during the XP loading because since I know? t I did a RAID? not that I needed the SATA RAID drivers to load, correct? Before I installed XP I have the Hitachi Feature Tool, which I could 3.0gb/sec SATA II mode loading. In my BIOS I left the default settings except that I changed CPU Spread Spectrum to Center Spread. I also enabled system BIOS caching. Im pretty sure I should have enabled CPU Spread Spectrum. Ive been looking for similar problems but most everyone Ive seen is either not installed or the resolution was the subject dead.

Has anyone had these problems. I have disabled the CPU spread spectrum and the system BIOS caching and set the bios to-fail-safe mode but still no luck. I also tried hitting F6 and loading the nvidia raid drivers, but Windows setup said it could not install on my hard drive so not really would not work either.
I help.
Thanks,
Nick

Best Answer: Yes thats a VERY nice computer,i wish I could afford it..
Only reccommendation I would make would be to get an 8800gts 320mb or 640mb, honestly it makes such a difference even though its only one class away from it. Oh and also get your parts on newegg, and when you get the vid card get it with EVGA brand, they have lifetime warranties on parts and labor, that way if anything ever goes wrong your covered! : D

Re:OK, I think I figured out how to get past the DMI hang, but now I consistently get a blue screen at the point of Windows Starting Up. I have tried a single drive and now have removed both drives so all I have is the Benq DW1640 and the nVidia 6600GT plugged into the mobo. I have tried all the cables and can't figure out why I blue screen. Error looks like a standard equipment issue 0×0000006F. Where is the conflict?
Configuration is:

Epox EP-9NPA+Ultra
CORSAIR ValueSelect 1GB
EVGA GeForce 6600GT
Antec Sonata II
WinXP Pro SP2

Re:If your mobo came with SATA drivers you probably need to install them. The generic WinXP Sata drivers may not be working for you. You need to put the driver files on a floppy and press F6 when prompted during the XP install.

Perfect Fix
Re:Thanks I noticed tonight they have a newer BIOS version and am going to try that. The odd thing is that I had the same issue with another system but it was chaintech 939 Ultra motherboard and the rest of my specs were the same. I did flash the chaintechs BIOS but still no luck. I will try flashing the BIOS tonight and see what that does.

Re:Reset the CMOS, and / or flash to a newer BIOS version if available.

This will be a first step to take.

Don't worry about IRQ sharing. Modern systems do this as a normal course of business without breaking a sweat.

Re:I discovered if I set the INIT Display to PCI instead of PCIex XP installs but hangs during the XP splash screen. Shouldn't my BIOS be set to INIT Display PCIex if I am using a PCI express card or is this just for folks with 2 video cards? Do I need to hit F6 and load either/both the NVIDIA NForce Storage Controller or NVIDIA RAID CLASS DRIVER?
When loading XP the splash screen loads for minutes and minutes. I am confident this is not a defective hardware issue because I have swapped out every piece except the cpu. I also had this problem with a Chaintech Ultra 939 board I returned. I have also encountered a couple freezes where I was forced to do a hard restart. Could this be a IRQ conflict?
My IRQ's are set
Memory Controller – NA
SMBus Cntrlr – 5
USB 1.0/1.1 OHCI cntrlr 10
USB 2.0 EHCI Cntrlr 11
Multimedia Device 7
IDE Cntrlr 14
IDE Cntrlr 10
IDE Cntrlr 11
Serial Bus Controller 3
Display Cntrlr 5
ACPI Controller 9

Now I see the USB and IDE's are trying to share the same IRQ and the SMBus and ACPI are too. I need to manually move these right? Is this my problem. It has been years since I manually set IRQ's but isn't video suppose to run off of IRQ 9?
In my BIOS I can set the IRQ's manually but my choices are only to set the IRQ to PCI Device or Reserved. I can alter IRQ 3 – 15 what should these be set to?
I would guess 10, 11, 14 need to be reserved but do any others? Which ones should I set to PCI Device just the display, right? For stuff like the USB, Multimedia,SMBus and ACPI what should those be set to?
Thanks
